Are you a student who is passionate about numbers, and keen to apply your skills to an international development context? EGP are looking for a Treasurer to manage their accounts for 2021/22.
As a small committee (12 this year), we have spent the past year reflecting on our processes and role within the international development community. The past year has been challenging for the charity, as the international development sector has been forced to reconsider the ways it engages with what it does. Finances are central to this, and EGP are looking for a Treasurer who will be crucial in securing the long-term sustainability of the charity.
Develop a strong understanding of the charity’s financial position, and make confident financial decisions based on this information
Maintain the strong relationship with the charity’s bank account manager, and liaise with them when necessary
Oversee significant financial transactions to our host partners, in a timely and efficient manner
Keep track of committee spending
Oversee accounts for each project and assist with account keeping when volunteers are abroad
Produce annual report for OSCR and EUSA at the end of the year
Work with the rest of the committee to determine a sustainable financial strategy for the future
Attend weekly committee meetings

Excellent communication skills
Studying a degree in economics, accountancy, business management, or a similar relevant degree
Prior position on a society committee
Experience in charity management
NB. Given ongoing uncertainty, some details of the role are yet to be clarified. Whilst it is likely that most of this role can be carried out online, being in Edinburgh would be preferable.
