We feel it’s important to keep in mind that, although the work our volunteers carry out abroad is very worthwhile, volunteering can be just as rewarding when it’s carried out closer to home.
We ask that each volunteer carries out at least one of our Edinburgh Links projects, which allow a range of interests to be pursued. For those interested in environmental and ecological issues we arrange opportunities to work with the Edinburgh Conservation Rangers to help clear the river of vegetation, as well as the Lothian Conservation Rangers to build a path in Beecraigs Country Park. For those interested in in the care of the elderly, we volunteer at several tea parties with the elderly with Bethany Christian Trust. For those interested in medical issues, we work alongside Autism Initiatives’ to help run their Golf Day and provide opportunities for volunteers to visit long term patients at hospitals. There is a wide range of opportunities available. Volunteering will not only bring you closer to your local community, but will also provide an enriching experience and allow you to bond with your team! |
